The Thread of a Life: From Haute Couture to the Soul of Woodely

It all began in the silence of a child's bedroom, broken only by the sound of a pencil gliding across paper. Long before I understood the workings of the world, I drew silhouettes, imagined volumes, and created clothes. This visceral need to give form to the invisible led me, a few years later, to the benches of the Lycée Adrien Testud . There, surrounded by fabrics and patterns, I learned the rigor of bespoke tailoring: the precision of a gesture, the elegance of a fabric scrap, and the infinite patience required to achieve the perfect drape.

My entry into the professional world was marked by discipline. At Auchan , I forged my character through the steel of operational rigor and adaptability. It was with this solid foundation that I flew to Sydney .

This two-year journey was my second awakening. Far from my familiar surroundings, I discovered another way of inhabiting the world. I was struck by an architecture in constant dialogue with the land, by the raw power of nature, and above all, by that Australian light —a pure, almost magical clarity that seems to breathe life back into even the most unrefined materials. It was there that my perspective on objects changed: I understood that comfort and beauty are inseparable from the environment that surrounds us.

Armed with this new perspective, I returned to France to join the Zara group. For eight intense years, I navigated the heart of international fashion. But over time, a feeling of disconnect emerged. I no longer wanted this impersonal commerce where the customer disappears behind a transaction amount, where the item is merely a fleeting stock number. I longed for a return to humanity, to a real and sincere connection with the person who receives the item.

It was this thirst for meaning that drove me to leave my comfortable life and resume my studies. Between a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Law, Economics, and Management , while I was structuring my strategic thinking, the idea for Woodely emerged as a natural progression. This project would not be just a simple boutique, but rather the link between my background as a creator and my demanding approach to management.

Today, alongside teaching and training where I share what I've learned, I cultivate Woodely like a precious garden. I've chosen to work only with brands that share my deepest convictions: fairness over quick profit, sustainability over fleeting trends, quality over quantity. Each piece in my selection is chosen for its soul, its texture, and its ability to capture perfect light in your home as well.

In my world, design becomes what it should always have been: an encounter. An encounter between the hand of the craftsman, the history of a material and your everyday life.

Yours sincerely

Mikael
