Design storage: organising with style
A calm home is an orderly one. The right storage hides the clutter and shows off what you love: books, ceramics, keepsakes.
Room by room
In the living room, shelves, bookcases, console tables and TV units give the space structure. In the bedroom, bedside tables, chests of drawers and a clothes rail keep the essentials close at hand. In the hallway, coat racks hold coats and bags.
Materials and makers
LIND DNA combines recycled leather with Nordic lines, Raw Materials works in solid wood, and Affari of Sweden, Bloomingville and House Doctor offer pieces in wood, rattan and metal.
Your questions
Open or closed storage?
Mix the two: open shelving to display a few chosen objects, closed storage for everyday things.
How do I style a shelf?
Alternate books lying flat and standing upright, objects of different heights and empty space; group in threes and repeat a single colour.
