Design lampshades: change the light in a moment
Simply replacing a lampshade is enough to refresh a light and the atmosphere of a room. It filters the light, tints it gently and draws shadows on the walls.
Getting the size right
On a lamp base, the shade's diameter should be roughly twice the width of the base, and its height about two thirds that of the base. Check the fitting is compatible (E14 or E27 lampholder, ring or harp).
Materials and makers
Woven natural fibres from Original Home and Affari of Sweden cast a warm, graphic light; linen and fabric from Broste Copenhagen and House Doctor give a more even, muted glow.
