Wall lights: light that frees up space
Mounted on the wall, a wall light creates ambient light, highlights architecture or replaces a bedside lamp. It is ideal in small spaces: a corridor, hallway, bedroom or above a worktop.
At what height?
In a corridor or living room, fit the wall light 1.60 to 1.80 m from the floor. Above a headboard, allow 30 to 40 cm above the mattress and around 20 cm in from the edge of the bed for comfortable reading.
Materials and makers
Serax shapes ceramic wall lights with soft forms, House Doctor plays with metal and raw finishes, and Hübsch offers clean Nordic lines.
Your questions
Does a wall light need to be hard-wired?
It depends on the model: some plug into a socket with a visible cable, others connect to a wall outlet. This information is given on each product page.
How many wall lights for a corridor?
Allow one wall light every 2 to 3 metres for even lighting.
