Born in Palermo, Antonino Sciortino was barely eight years old when he began to forge iron in his father's workshop. It was because of its flexibility that soft iron became his material of choice. From his Sicilian childhood, he retains a real know-how. Very young, in Bagheria, he was apprenticed in his brother's forge. Later, in his workshop in Milan, he fashioned decorative furniture, side tables, chairs, vases, baskets, lamps... He twisted and welded iron, the workshop came alive with primitive, simple and colorful objects. Each piece is unique, both rudimentary and sophisticated
