Born in Palermo, Antonino Sciortino was barely eight years old when he began forging iron in his father's workshop. It was because of its malleability that soft iron became his preferred material. From his Sicilian childhood, he retained a true expertise. As a young boy in Bagheria, he apprenticed in his brother's forge. Later, in his Milan workshop, he crafted decorative furniture, side tables, chairs, vases, baskets, lamps... He twisted and welded iron, and the workshop came alive with primitive, simple, and colorful objects. Each piece is unique, both rudimentary and sophisticated.
